Meet Ivana Grandic Acevedo, Politicking’s Community & Events Coordinator. Ivana brings a diverse background in politics and law to help Politicking members connect, build relationships, and shape new ideas in New York City’s political community.

Her love of politics began at the community level, getting to know people and hearing their stories. As a campaign intern for Mark Levine, she loved canvassing and talking with voters, which inspired her to find new ways to help people through the legal world. She went on to join Sonia & Celina’s Judicial Internship Program under Justice Sotomayor, where she learned the meaning behind a strong argument and how to fight for someone’s rights, and later interned for Senator Chuck Schumer’s office, assisting constituents with the issues that mattered most to them.

That experience led her to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, where she worked as a Trial Paralegal, advocating for victims and witnesses both in and out of the courtroom. She is currently pursuing her master’s in journalism at Columbia University.

At Politicking, Ivana is excited to create spaces where emerging and established professionals can meet, exchange ideas, and connect with the people shaping New York’s political landscape. Her own path, which began with conversations on the campaign trail shows how powerful those connections can be.
